mclusky announces new mini-album and opening track

Welsh post-hardcore band mclusky has revealed a forthcoming six-song mini-album titled i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley, set for digital release on March 20. The group has also shared the lead single, "i know computer," which is available to stream now. The vinyl edition follows on May 1 via Ipecac Recordings.

mclusky's latest project, i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley, features six tracks and emerges as a bridge to the band's upcoming North American tour. The mini-album began as a promotional effort for the tour but evolved into a distinct release, according to frontman Andrew “Falco” Falkous.

The opening track, “i know computer,” clocks in at two minutes and embodies the band's signature skeletal post-hardcore sound. It highlights prominent bass lines from Damien Sayell, guitar stabs by Falkous, and builds to a skronky rhythmic section with a chorus of the sarcastic line “it’s a real nice feeling.” Falkous commented on the song in a press release: “Damien probably likes ‘I am computer’ [sic] a bit too much but that’s okay, the heart wants what the heart wants.”

Falkous provided further insight into the collection's origins and content. He described it as a response to the content-driven music industry, emphasizing photos, opinions, and ultimately music itself. “Fact is we can’t stop writing, at least at the moment. It’s fun (that’s all it needs to be),” he noted. New singles “i know computer” and “as a dad” could appear on the band's next full album, which is already half-recorded.

Tracks “spock culture” and “hi! we’re on strike” were leftovers from sessions for the previous album the world is still here…, valued for their lyrical significance. “Fan learning difficulties” and “that was my brain on elves” had prior digital releases and are praised as “skill.”

The mini-album aligns with mclusky's tour, kicking off March 24 in Denver and concluding April 11 in Washington, D.C. Pre-orders are available through Ipecac Recordings.

Tracklist:
1. i know computer
2. as a dad
3. spock culture
