Coach Guillermo Hoyos explained the substitution was due to fatigue and field conditions. “It is fatigue. He was tired and the field was heavy,” he said.
Multiple reports confirmed no muscular injury occurred, only a loaded hamstring. The incident took place 17 days before Argentina's World Cup 2026 debut.
