The Mexican Stock Exchange closed on Friday, June 26, with a decline, while the peso posted a slight depreciation against the dollar.
The S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.28 percent and closed at 67,226.00 points. For the week, the index posted a cumulative loss of 0.71 percent.
The Mexican peso depreciated 0.12 percent or 2.08 cents against the dollar and stood at 17.5050 pesos per dollar, according to Banco de México data. At bank windows, the dollar sold for 17.92 pesos.
On Wall Street, the Nasdaq dropped 0.24 percent to 25,297.62 points, the Dow Jones lost 0.09 percent and closed at 51,876.11 points, while the S&P 500 retreated 0.05 percent to 7,354.02 points. European and Asian stock markets also ended with negative results.
Laura Torres, director of investments at IMB Capital Quants, said the session was influenced by macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, particularly attention on the Strait of Hormuz. Felipe Mendoza, an analyst at EBC Financial Group, noted that the market absorbed Banxico's decision to leave interest rates unchanged.
