The Mexican national team defeated Ghana 2-0 on Friday at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla. Goals were scored by Brian Gutiérrez and the ‘Memote’ Martínez.
The match served as preparation for the 2026 World Cup. Javier Aguirre led the team that maintained control for much of the game.
Brian Gutiérrez opened the scoring in the third minute after an error by Ghana's goalkeeper. In the second half, the ‘Memote’ Martínez extended the lead with a shot inside the area in the 53rd minute.
Mexico will play its next friendlies against Australia on May 30 and Serbia on June 4. The World Cup debut will be against South Africa on June 11.
