Michael Jackson has reached the top of the Billboard Artist 100 chart for the first time, nearly two decades after his death in 2009. The late singer's surge comes from strong streaming, radio airplay, and sales boosted by the ongoing success of the Michael biopic.
The Artist 100 ranks top artists in the U.S. based on a combination of streaming, radio airplay, album sales, and track sales. Jackson earned the No. 1 spot this week with 161.2 million on-demand streams, 93.4 million radio impressions, 46,000 album sales, and 20,000 digital song downloads during the May 8-14 tracking period.
