Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced Minecraft World, a £50 million theme park—the first dedicated to the video game—set to open at London’s Chessington World of Adventures in 2027. The project features the world's first Minecraft rollercoaster, block-built playscapes, interactive adventures, the world's biggest Minecraft shop, themed retail and dining, and meet-and-greets with Minecraft mobs.
Announced on March 21, 2026, following Minecraft Live, Minecraft World brings the blocky universe of Mojang's Minecraft to life at Chessington World of Adventures. Developed in close collaboration with theme park operator Merlin Entertainments and input from unnamed Minecraft creators, the £50 million attraction promises immersive experiences where visitors can play, explore, craft, and adventure in the Overworld. Key highlights include the first-ever Minecraft rollercoaster, epic block-built playscapes, and the world's largest Minecraft shop.
The project arrives amid Minecraft's multimedia expansion, building on the record-breaking success of A Minecraft Movie—Warner Bros’ third-highest opening ever in April 2026—with a sequel due July 23, 2027, and Minecraft 2 directed by Jared Hess slated for summer 2027.
Merlin Entertainments described it as one of its most ambitious developments.
