Education Minister María Paz Arzola stated there were prior warnings to CAE debtors before collections by the Treasury General of the Republic. The Socialist Party rejected the severity of these measures.
Arzola noted that higher-income debtors were prioritized and that people can make agreements. “There were many prior warnings,” she said on Canal 13’s Mesa Central. The Socialist Party accused collection actions of emptying debtors’ bank accounts after they received salaries. The party called for a review of measures to protect essential income. Arzola also addressed reforms to the School Admission System and the Protected Schools Law, which faces a challenge at the Constitutional Court.
