The streaming service released its new version of the classic family drama on July 9. The eight-episode first season offers a heartwarming yet more realistic take on Laura Ingalls Wilder's story.
The reboot follows the Ingalls family as they settle in the frontier town of Independence, Kansas. Luke Bracey stars as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline, Alice Halsey as Laura, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary.
Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and the production team incorporate greater context around the Osage tribe whose land the settlers claim. The series also develops Caroline as a more rounded character than in prior adaptations.
Supporting roles include Barrett Doss as Emily and Jocko Simms as Dr. George Tann. The season draws from the third book in Wilder's series and will move to Walnut Grove, Minnesota, in the already ordered second season.
