A former highway superintendent in New York has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after shooting a DoorDash driver who arrived at the wrong address. The May 2025 incident left the 24-year-old victim with serious injuries requiring emergency surgery.
John Reilly, 49, was sentenced on Monday in Orange County after a jury found him guilty in March of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and other felony charges. The shooting occurred on May 2, 2025, in Chester, New York, when Alpha Barry pulled into Reilly's driveway while delivering food with a dead phone battery. Reilly came out of his home with a .45-caliber Glock pistol and fired several shots, one of which struck Barry in the lower back after piercing his vehicle. Barry underwent surgery that removed two feet of his small bowel due to the injuries.
