New Zealand boatbuilding innovations to headline 2026 Auckland Boat Show

The 2026 Auckland Boat Show, marking its 25th anniversary, will spotlight New Zealand's custom boatbuilding with several local debuts. Scheduled for March 5 to 8 at the Viaduct Events Centre, the event will feature over 200 boats and marine technologies from around the world. Visitors can expect sea trials and displays focused on industry growth and sustainability.

The Auckland Boat Show returns for its 25th edition from Thursday, March 5, to Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland. This year's event emphasizes New Zealand's advancements in boatbuilding, with several homegrown vessels set to debut alongside international premieres and marine innovations.

Leading the local showcases is the 13.8m Elite Kaea, the inaugural build from Tauranga-based Marra Marine. Designed by Bill Upfold of Elite Marine Design, it serves as a Cook Strait commuter boat, blending offshore capability, efficiency, and cruising comfort. Offshore Boats New Zealand will introduce its 1100 HTC foil-assisted power catamaran, tailored for fishing, diving, and extended cruising. Hamilton's Fin Chaser builder plans to unveil the Fin Chaser 800 Hard Top amphibious vessel, with opportunities for sea trials. Tristram Marine will display its APEX Edition on the 821 Offshore model, focusing on advanced system integration for trailer boats. Other Kiwi highlights include Takacat's ultra-light T220UL inflatable catamaran, weighing 14kg, and Allan Tongs Boatbuilders' Elite AT43 production model.

International entries will include the Grand Banks 54 long-range cruiser, known for fuel efficiency and timeless design, as well as the Finnish SARGO 45 adventure cruiser, Excess 11 performance catamaran, Seawind 1170 multihull, and XO Defender adventure boat. New models from Jeanneau, Prestige, Riviera, and Maritimo—such as the M55 and M75—will also premiere.

Technological displays feature Yamaha Marine New Zealand's Helm Master EX wireless control system for onboard maneuvering and new Honda outboard engines available for trials. Frigomar, via local partner Boatgear, will present energy-efficient air-conditioning and refrigeration systems with variable-speed inverter technology for quieter, lower-power operation.

With around 150 exhibitors, more than 200 boats on land and water—including over 1.3km on the water—and 30 available for sea trials, the show supports sectors like careers, sustainability, and high-end charters through interactive zones and educational content. Tickets are currently on sale via www.aucklandboatshow.co.nz.
