NHL adjusts start times for Sabres-Maple Leafs games to accommodate World Series

The National Hockey League has changed the start times for the Buffalo Sabres' upcoming games against the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 24 and 25 to make way for the World Series in Toronto. Buffalo's home game on Friday shifts earlier, while Saturday's matchup in Toronto moves up by two hours. These adjustments ensure no conflicts with Games 1 and 2 of the baseball postseason.

The NHL announced the schedule modifications on Wednesday to prioritize the World Series, which will be held at Rogers Centre in Toronto. The Buffalo Sabres' home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at KeyBank Center, originally set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, October 24 (Game #123), will now begin at 7 p.m. ET. This one-hour shift provides a buffer for the baseball event.

The following day, Saturday, October 25, the Sabres visit the Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena (Game #132). That contest, previously scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, has been moved to 5 p.m. ET, accommodating Game 2 of the World Series. Tickets for the Friday home game in Buffalo remain available through official channels.

In a related adjustment, the Maple Leafs' home game against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, October 28 (Game #151), originally at 6:15 p.m. ET, will start at 6 p.m. ET to avoid overlap with World Series Game 4. These changes reflect the league's coordination with Major League Baseball during the overlapping schedules in Toronto.

No other details on impacts to lineups or preparations were provided in the announcements. Fans are advised to check official NHL sources for any further updates to the 2025-26 regular-season schedule.
