Olivia Dean's 'Man I Need' has reached No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart, marking the first song by a woman to lead Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Adult R&B Airplay since Adele's 'Hello'. The track jumped from No. 5 to the top spot for the chart dated April 11, based on airplay from March 27 to April 2. This adds to its previous successes across multiple radio formats.
Olivia Dean's 'Man I Need', released through Polydor/Island/REPUBLIC, dethroned Tank's 'Control' after its two-week run at No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. The song now leads based on plays from panel-contributing adult R&B stations in the United States, as tracked by Luminate. It marks the first such triple crown for a female artist since Adele's 'Hello' topped the charts in 2015-16 with one week on Adult R&B Airplay, four on Pop Airplay and seven on Adult Pop Airplay. Overall, it is the first song to achieve this since Teddy Swims' 'Lose Control' in 2024. The track previously held the No. 1 spot for six weeks on Pop Airplay in January-February and three weeks on Adult Pop Airplay in February. Its broad appeal propelled it to a No. 2 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 with a 20-week run in the top 10. Dean's momentum also led to her Grammy win for best new artist on February 1. 'Man I Need' continues to climb other charts, rising 20-19 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay with 5 million audience impressions, up 6% from last week. It holds at No. 8 on Adult Contemporary and remains at No. 2 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart for a seventh straight week.
