Charithra Chandran, who plays Miss Wednesday in Netflix's One Piece, revealed details about her character's true identity as Princess Nefertari Vivi and the upcoming Alabasta storyline in season 3. The actress shared insights from an interview following the season 2 finale, where the Straw Hat pirates befriend Vivi and commit to aiding her homeland. Season 3 is currently filming in South Africa.
In the season 2 finale of Netflix's One Piece, now streaming, the Straw Hat pirates discover that Baroque Works agent Miss Wednesday, portrayed by Charithra Chandran, is actually Princess Nefertari Vivi of the war-torn kingdom of Alabasta. This revelation leads Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his crew—including Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Sanji (Taz Skylar), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Romero), and the newly joined Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover)—to befriend the princess and pledge to fight for her country in season 3.
The storyline draws from Eiichiro Oda's beloved manga and anime, with the Alabasta arc set to occupy a significant portion of the upcoming season. Chandran, known for her role in Bridgerton season 2, explained in a Variety interview published on March 10, 2026, that she approached the character's duality by emphasizing shared traits like strategy, diplomacy, and an elegant, efficient fighting style. "I wanted it to feel very organic and seamless and that it’s not a complete 180, and you still see some elements of how she got away with going undercover for so long when she is Vivi," she said.
Chandran noted that Vivi struggles to trust the Straw Hats' genuine nature after her experiences in Baroque Works, where most members were untrustworthy except for Mr. Nine. The crew's forgiveness comes easily, given their own complicated backstories. Regarding Miss All Sunday, Vivi views her as a psychopath lacking dignity and justice, unaware of her full backstory.
The actress admitted she auditioned without knowing it was for One Piece and was unfamiliar with the intellectual property initially. "When I auditioned, I didn’t know I was auditioning for ‘One Piece,’ nor was I familiar with the IP," Chandran told Variety. "But then obviously, once I knew what the character was, I definitely learned her entire arc. And I was so excited, because it is such a journey. We’re filming Season 3 right now, and it’s so exciting."
