Paige has described how her surprise WWE return at WrestleMania 42 unfolded after plans leaked shortly before the event. She replaced Nikki Bella in the Women's Tag Team Championship match and teamed with Brie Bella to win the titles. The former champion discussed the experience during a recent appearance on the Nikki & Brie Show.
Paige said Triple H contacted her at the last minute to fill the spot. She noted that the timing aligned with her existing plans in Las Vegas for podcast and signing appearances.
The wrestler recalled growing frustration as speculation mounted. Reports indicated she had signed a new contract and attended rehearsals, leading fans to guess her involvement.
"People were starting to guess, and then the day of Mania, I was supposed to go do a signing, but at the last second they pulled the signing and got me to go to Mania," Paige said. "Also, we got so frustrated, you guys, because it leaked the day before."
Paige and Brie Bella later lost the titles to Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid of Fatal Influence at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18.
