People's bazaar at Monas brings joy and aid to Jakarta residents

A people's bazaar titled Istana Untuk Rakyat took place at the Monumen Nasional area in Jakarta on Saturday (March 28, 2026), providing essentials, entertainment, and free prizes to residents post-Lebaran, as instructed by President Prabowo Subianto. The event drew enthusiastic crowds enjoying games, free food, and doorprizes including bicycles and electric motorcycles.

Jakarta - The people's bazaar titled Istana Untuk Rakyat at the Monumen Nasional (Monas) area on Saturday (March 28, 2026) served as a venue for Jakarta residents to access essentials while enjoying family entertainment, following instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the President wanted as many citizens as possible to celebrate Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah in a spirit of togetherness. "It started from the high enthusiasm of the public during Lebaran last week at the Palace; Mr. President wants as many people as possible to share Lebaran happiness in a warm and communal atmosphere," Teddy said.

The government prepared 100,000 vouchers for free groceries and goods worth Rp500,000 each, along with 300,000 free food portions from around 800 street UMKM vendors, including those from Tanah Abang and Senen. Visitors had chances to win 1,000 bicycles and 100 electric motorcycles as doorprizes.

The festive atmosphere was evident from children's enthusiasm in games like basketball and slides. Ibrahim and Rahim from Tanah Abang said, "Playing around, there's basketball, slides too. So much fun." They also thanked President Prabowo.

Afnila Wita from North Jakarta received a bicycle for her child. "Alhamdulillah, got a bike. For my child's school. Alhamdulillah, thank you Mr. President, may this benefit the community," she said. Ati Fatimah from East Jakarta noted her children got dolls, snacks, and food items.

The event ran from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. WIB, featuring an entertainment stage with music groups Wali and Bagindas, open to all societal layers. Teddy added, "This Lebaran is not just about tradition, but about bringing happiness and togetherness for everyone."

The bazaar also boosted UMKM economic turnover post-Lebaran.
