Roughly 4,000 records from the late Television frontman’s collection will be offered through Discogs and New York’s Academy Records. Sales begin online on June 26, with in-person events in Brooklyn on July 10 and 11.
The announcement came from Discogs and Academy Records on June 24. The selections include rare pressings along with jazz, avant-garde, psych, rock, and international titles.
Specific items feature Verlaine’s copies of Television’s Marquee Moon and the single “Little Johnny Jewel,” as well as albums by Nico, the 13th Floor Elevators, Albert Ayler, and Slint.
Academy Records’ Cory Feierman said the collection shows Verlaine’s active engagement with music through adventure and discovery rather than items similar to his own work.
The sales will continue with the remainder of the collection listed on Discogs starting July 31.
