Spain captain Rodri won the Golden Ball at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after leading his team to a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final.
Rodri was named the recipient of the Golden Ball or best player of the FIFA World Cup 2026. He led La Roja to tournament victory by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final match at New York/New Jersey Stadium on Sunday (19/7/2026) local time.
The 30-year-old midfielder was the driving force of Spain's play throughout the tournament. His consistent performance led La Roja to claim the world champion title.
"Even I myself cannot express it in words. I feel like we are now on a cloud," Rodri said after the match.
Before the final, Rodri also tried to instill a never-give-up mentality in his teammates. "We must face them. We must look them in the eye," Rodri said.
