Row house fire in Löddeköpinge damages two apartments

An outbuilding attached to a row house in Löddeköpinge caught fire on Monday evening just before 9 pm. The blaze spread to the house, causing the roof to collapse, and two apartments are totally damaged. Residents evacuated safely with their dogs.

Rescue services were alerted just before 8:45 pm on Monday evening to Löddeköpinge after an outbuilding attached to a row house caught fire. By the time they arrived, the flames had spread to the roof of the row house, according to reports from Sydsvenskan and SVT Nyheter. The roof later collapsed that evening, and extinguishing efforts were ongoing just before midnight, with both apartments in the house totally damaged. Rescue services stated there was no risk of spread to other buildings in the area. Duty officer Joel Johansson told Sydsvenskan: 'It has spread to both apartments in the row house, and we are fighting on but there will be major damage to both apartments.' He added: 'Everyone got out on their own, even the dogs are with them.' To SVT Nyheter, Johansson commented: 'It was a rapid fire progression and the roof has collapsed so we have had to focus on preventing spread to other houses.' No persons were injured in the fire, and an ambulance was called to the scene. Residents in the house managed to evacuate themselves before the fire spread further.
