The Municipal Council for the Preservation of the Historical, Cultural and Environmental Heritage of the City of São Paulo approved the listing of four temples of African-matrix religions.
The decision was taken during a CONPRESP meeting and protects Ilê Dara Asè Òsún Eyin in Sapopemba, Ilê Asé Omo Igbo Omi in Ermelino Matarazzo, Terreiro de Candomblé Abassá Oxum Oxóssi in Cangaíba and Terreiro de Candomblé Santa Bárbara in Brasilândia.
The processes were prepared by the Department of Historical Heritage. The council recognized the historical, cultural, religious and social value of these spaces for the black communities of the capital.
The temples have preserved Afro-Brazilian traditions for decades. Among the leaders mentioned are Pai Cido de Oxum, Mãe Izis de Logunedé, Mãe Caçulinha and Mãe Kátia.
