Sara Duterte highlights OVP achievements after year of travels

Vice President Sara Duterte released a year-end report on the Office of the Vice President's 2025 programs, serving as a defense of her productivity amid frequent overseas travels. She highlighted medical aid, disaster response, and other initiatives delivered despite a 58% budget cut. The report counters criticism over her trips to support her father.

In a prerecorded message shared on December 1, 2025, Vice President Sara Duterte detailed the Office of the Vice President's (OVP) accomplishments despite a 2025 budget of P733 million, a 58% reduction from the P1.8 billion allocated in 2024. She noted that the OVP continued medical and burial assistance programs through alternative funding from other government agencies, aiding 4,643 individuals with medical needs and 1,377 with burial support.

"We did not allow the lack of budget to cut off services," Duterte said in Filipino, adding, "if one has the heart and determination to serve, there is always a way to help."

She also cited the OVP's response to the 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu and the October eruption of Mount Kanlaon, where it distributed 2,514 bags of 25-kilo rice and reached 73,054 affected families. Duterte personally oversaw operations in Negros Occidental and Cebu following typhoons Tino and Uwan. The RIICE Program delivered 56,575 bags of rice and food items, while the food truck served 1,866 frontliners and rescuers.

The PagbaBAGo campaign exceeded its target by planting more than one million trees nationwide. The Million Learners drive distributed 460,272 learning kits, including to Indigenous students in Kidapawan City. On livelihood, the Mag Negosyo Ta ’Day program assisted 15 groups and 2,245 aspiring entrepreneurs. The Libreng Sakay project expanded to Tacloban City and served 875,176 commuters from January to October.

The OVP received an unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit for its 2024 financial statements and a special citation for its paperless initiative, which saved 3.2 million sheets of paper. Duterte closed by calling to "fight the greed of a few high officials," without naming them but in context of rebukes toward former ally President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Her 17 overseas trips since the year's start, including to the Netherlands after her father's March arrest, have faced scrutiny, including from Malacañang in June.
