The trial, which opened on July 6, focuses on Article IV involving alleged threats by Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. National Bureau of Investigation agent Jeremy Lotoc is scheduled to testify on July 13, following testimony from agent John Mark Calilung the previous week.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson proposed measures to accelerate the proceedings, including keeping witnesses available at the Senate to avoid delays. House prosecutors Leila de Lima and Chel Diokno emphasized the need for accountability and confirmed the authenticity of video evidence presented.
Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Adolfo Azcuna stated that prosecutors have established criminal intent behind the threats. The court is set to continue hearings from July 13 to 15.
