Seagulls protecting a chick attacked customers outside a store in Falun. The incident occurred in mid-June and was filmed by a nearby resident.
Mikael Wetterstrand was working in his sixth-floor apartment when he heard screams from outside. He stepped onto the balcony and saw the seagulls attacking people in the parking lot.
Wetterstrand chose not to intervene and instead sat watching the events unfold. Two other people tried to move the chick but did not succeed. They wore bicycle helmets and were not attacked.
After about one and a half hours the chick disappeared around the corner. Benny Gäfvert at the County Administrative Board of Dalarna explained that such attacks are common during a short period of about two weeks each year when the chicks leave the nest.
