President Claudia Sheinbaum said she maintains direct contact via messages with Uruapan mayor Grecia Quiroz and attends to her requests for support immediately.
During her visit to Michoacán on July 3, 2026, Sheinbaum stated in the daily press conference that Quiroz has a direct line to the presidency. The mayor has requested investment for a sports facility and construction of a local police station.
The secretaries of Security and National Defense are in contact with the mayor for operations against organized crime, according to the president. Sheinbaum clarified that she has not visited Uruapan, but Omar García Harfuch and Ricardo Trevilla met with the widow of Carlos Manzo.
Manzo, mayor of Uruapan, was assassinated on November 1, 2025. The federal government created the Plan Michoacán after the incident and reported 25 related arrests.
