The Swiss Indoors Basel will host Stan Wawrinka's farewell, marking the end of his professional career on home soil. Tournament organizers confirmed the three-time Grand Slam winner's participation, with the event set for October 24 to November 1, 2026, at St. Jakobshalle. The 55th edition offers $3.18 million in prize money and draws top players alongside strong Swiss fan support. Wawrinka, now 41, announced months ago that 2026 would be his last season on the ATP Tour. He previously expressed a strong preference for Basel, stating, “There is [a] big chance there (Basel).” A dedicated ceremony is scheduled for Monday, October 26, at 18:00 local time as part of the “Super Monday” program. Organizers described the evening as a retrospective of Wawrinka’s career, featuring tributes and highlights from his ATP Tour achievements. “He would have loved to play forever. But in Basel, Stan Wawrinka will say goodbye to tennis,” the tournament stated. Wawrinka is expected to remain in the draw after the ceremony, allowing fans to see him compete over multiple days. Meanwhile, the Swiss star recently secured a comeback win in Italian Open qualifying against Stefano Travaglia, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1, ending a two-month victory drought. He next faces Pablo Carreño Busta.
