Summit High School claimed both the boys' and girls' titles at the 2026 Colorado High School Activities Association Alpine Skiing State Championships held on February 18-19. Middle Park High School finished third in the boys' competition and fourth in the girls'. The event featured strong performances from Summit athletes, including multiple individual wins.
The 2026 Alpine Skiing State Championships took place over February 18-19, drawing qualified competitors from across Colorado. Summit High School dominated, securing the team titles in both the boys' and girls' divisions. Middle Park High School's team, consisting of 18 athletes from Grand County, achieved third place for the boys and fourth for the girls.
In the girls' giant slalom, Summit swept the top four spots, with sophomore Malie Dieterich edging out senior teammate Mackenzie Cross by four hundredths of a second for the win. Middle Park's juniors Marloes Adriaanse and Jess Heid, along with sophomore Emmie Riggs, recorded top-10 finishes in individual runs, placing seventh, tenth, and thirteenth respectively. The Middle Park girls' team finished second overall in giant slalom. In slalom, sophomore Eden DeMino from Battle Mountain High School posted the fastest times in both runs, finishing over two seconds ahead of the second-place skier. Adriaanse placed sixth overall in slalom, with Jacobson thirteenth and Heid sixteenth. Senior Maggie Bellatty consistently ranked in the top 25 across both events and runs.
For the boys, senior Seth Montgomery of Summit won both giant slalom and slalom, achieving back-to-back-to-back victories and becoming the most decorated high school alpine skier in Colorado history since 2014. The Middle Park boys tied for first in slalom points with Steamboat Springs but ended ten points behind Summit overall. Seniors Alek Guziur and Salvador Stokeld placed ninth and thirteenth in giant slalom, with Guziur in the top ten for both runs. In slalom, Guziur and Stokeld earned fourth and fifth places, while junior Alex Burke and sophomore August Applequist finished in the top 20. Seniors Owen Lee and Diego Mariotto placed 37th and 50th in giant slalom.
Coach Lisa Mirabito praised her team's effort: “Everyone stepped up and did their very best. They have been working hard all year, and I couldn’t have asked for more from them.” She also noted that four racers—Alek Guziur, Marloes Adriaanse, Jess Heid, and Maggie Bellatty—have been invited to represent Colorado at the Western Nationals in March, with potential for more selections. Looking ahead, Mirabito highlighted the team's depth despite graduating seniors: “We have a lot of seniors graduating, but we have a lot of depth with many younger skiers that are more than ready to compete with the best.”
