Svea Court of Appeal has increased the sentence for a principal in Sörmland convicted of repeated rapes against a student. The penalty rises to five years and nine months.
Svea Court of Appeal announced the ruling on Friday against the man in his fifties. He is convicted of at least 50 rapes against a foster-placed girl aged 15–16 during the period of the crimes. The assaults continued for about one year and four months.
The principal committed the crimes in his office, in the school nurse’s toilet and in his car. The Court of Appeal notes that he behaved manipulatively and abused the student’s position of dependency. The sentence is reduced slightly because he was dismissed from his job.
The man must pay 660 000 kronor in damages to the girl. Nyköping District Court sentenced him in May to five years in prison. Both parties appealed the verdict.
