Amid a rapidly evolving electric vehicle market, Tata Motors has launched the updated Punch EV for Indian customers. The company introduced it at a starting price of 6.49 lakh rupees with the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) option. Under BaaS, customers pay a rental of 2.60 rupees per kilometer, charged based on usage. The price including the battery is 9.69 lakh rupees, and bookings have begun.

The base Smart variant features 15-inch steel wheels, compared to 16-inch wheels in higher variants. Color options are limited to Supernova Copper, Pure Grey, Pristine White, and Bengal Rouge. Despite being the base model, it includes a new touch-sensitive HVAC panel, City and Sport driving modes, iRA connected technology, front power windows, and adjustable headrests for rear seats. Additional features comprise LED DRLs, driver seat height adjustment, multi-mode regenerative braking, and an electric tailgate.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD, i-TPMS, ESP, reverse parking sensors, and seat belt reminders. The powertrain consists of a 30kWh battery and a single electric motor producing 87 Bhp power and 154 Nm torque. It offers a 375 km range on a full charge. Variants above Smart Plus come with a 40kWh battery for a 468 km range. The launch occurred on 26 February 2026.
