A tragic road accident occurred in Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, on March 26, 2026. A bus returning from a public program attended by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav collided head-on with a pick-up vehicle near Simariya on Nagpur Road. The crash claimed 10 lives, including six men, three women, and one child. District Superintendent of Police Ajay Pandey stated that the incident happened about 25 kilometers from the district headquarters. He said, 'In this accident, six men, three women, and one child died.' The bus carried more than 40 passengers, as confirmed by Kotwali Thana In-charge Ashish Kumar. Collector Harendra Narayan reported 31 injuries, with three to four in serious condition. One injured person was shifted to a hospital in Nagpur, Maharashtra, for advanced treatment. The injured were rushed to the district hospital and nearby medical centers. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief in an X post: 'I pray to God that he grants peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.' He announced 4 lakh rupees compensation for the families of the deceased, 1 lakh for the injured, and free treatment for all. Instructions were also given to send medical teams from Jabalpur and Nagpur.
