A Tesla Model Y in Atlanta used its Full Self-Driving system to deliver a driver experiencing a massive heart attack to the emergency room. The driver's son remotely redirected the vehicle via the Tesla app after receiving a call for help.
John Brandt woke at 3:30 a.m. with severe chest pain that quickly reached an eleven out of ten on the pain scale. He called his son Jake, who confirmed the car was on Full Self-Driving and used the Tesla app to locate the nearest hospital and send new coordinates.
The vehicle immediately rerouted toward downtown Atlanta. Jake also alerted hospital staff that the car was en route. Emergency personnel were waiting when the Model Y arrived.
Doctors later confirmed John had suffered a massive STEMI heart attack. Jake Brandt said the system's ability to drive safely and arrive quickly was crucial, noting that even a few minutes' delay could have changed the outcome.
