Mateus Fernandes scored a stunning volley on his debut to give Tottenham a 1-0 win over MK Dons in a pre-season friendly.
Fernandes, signed from West Ham for a reported £85 million, opened the scoring in the third minute. He struck a superb volley into the top-right corner after MK Dons goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray punched a corner into his path.
Sandro Tonali, who joined Tottenham in a £100 million deal from Newcastle United, also started the match. Tottenham made 10 substitutions at half-time and failed to add to their lead.
Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka made his debut in the second half. Midfielder Lucas Bergvall did not feature. Tottenham will next face Auckland FC on Sunday during a tour of New Zealand and Australia.
