Train stop near Borlänge after damaged contact line

A truck damaged a contact line outside Borlänge on Wednesday, halting train services. No injuries were reported, but the disruption affects travel between Stockholm and Falun. Services are expected to resume by lunchtime on Thursday.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday when a truck damaged a contact line at a railway crossing in the southeastern part of Borlänge. The location was Rågåkersvägen, south of the Södra Backa industrial area, where trains depart Borlänge southeast toward Säter, Avesta, Hedemora, Sala, Uppsala, Arlanda, and Stockholm.

This caused a complete halt in train traffic between Borlänge and Säter. According to SJ, eight trains were affected on Wednesday, with two canceled and six rerouted. On Thursday, SJ expects two cancellations and six reroutes.

"We have eight trains affected today (Wednesday) for SJ's part. Two are canceled and six are taking another route," says Ronny Hörstrand from SJ's press office to TT.

Trafikverket states that train services are expected to resume at the earliest on Thursday, November 13, with normal operations by lunchtime. No injuries were reported from the accident. Travelers are directed to train operators for details on individual journeys.
