Ethiopia's Transport and Logistics Ministry has ordered transport tariffs to be cut solely on a specified basis. The directive addresses disruptions from fuel price hikes caused by the Middle East conflict. All transport operators must implement it strictly from today.
Addis Ababa, Miyazya 21, 2018 (Fana) - Ethiopia's Ministry of Transport and Logistics issued a directive to reduce transport tariffs strictly on a specified basis to restore service stability.
The ministry stated that the Middle East conflict has severely impacted the global fuel market, causing fuel price surges and supply disruptions. This has forced Ethiopia's daily fuel imports down from 9 million liters to 4.5 million liters.
The government pledged multiple measures, including tariff adjustments, fuel rationing changes, and logistics chain strengthening. The Finance Ministry announced today that fuel supplies have returned to normal.
From today, all transport managers and operators from Addis Ababa to regions must strictly adhere to the specified tariff cuts and report compliance jointly. The ministry said this could quickly resolve transport disruptions.
