Two men arrested in connection with a 1 billion yen (US$6.4 million) robbery in Hong Kong were remanded in custody following their appearance at Fanling Court on Friday.
Lee Wan-kwong, 36, and Lee Chun-wa, 28, were each charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, alongside seven others accused of robbing two men of 1.08 billion yen on December 18 in Central. Lee Wan-kwong is alleged to have been the mastermind behind the operation, while Lee Chun-wa is accused of handling the stolen cash. Court documents indicate that both are decoration workers and hold Hong Kong identity cards.
Magistrate Kenneth Chan Ping-chau, who presided over the hearing, rejected their bail applications and ordered the pair to remain in custody. He adjourned the case until March 17, 2026, at Eastern Court, pending further police investigation.
The robbery took place in Central, involving a substantial sum, and police continue to investigate other suspects. Court records show that the seven other defendants have already been charged.
