Two injured in collision on wet B3 road near Hildesheim

A collision on the B3 highway south of Hildesheim left two drivers injured. A 21-year-old man lost control of his vehicle on a rain-slicked road and crashed into another car. Both injured parties were transported to hospitals.

The accident occurred at midday on the Bundesstraße 3 between the towns of Alfeld in the Hildesheim district and Delligsen in the Holzminden district. According to police, the 21-year-old driver lost control of his car, likely because he did not adjust his speed to the wet road conditions from rain. His vehicle spun out and first collided with the car of a 36-year-old female driver.

Subsequently, the young man's car hit a guardrail. Both vehicles rotated and came to a stop facing opposite to the direction of travel. The 21-year-old was airlifted by rescue helicopter to a hospital in Hildesheim, while the 36-year-old was taken by ambulance to a clinic in Gronau. The severity of the injuries could not be reliably assessed initially.

Police stated that the incident was due to speed not adapted to the rain-wet road surface. No further details were provided on the circumstances or any traffic disruptions.
