Typhoon Tino makes seventh landfall in Palawan's Batas Island

Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) made its seventh landfall in Batas Island, Taytay, Palawan at 4:10 am on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. PAGASA reported the typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h, expected to re-intensify as it moves over the West Philippine Sea. It has caused massive flooding and destruction along its path, including more than 40 deaths in Cebu.

On Monday, November 3, 2025, Typhoon Tino passed close to Dinagat Islands and Homonhon Island in Eastern Samar. On Tuesday, November 4, landfalls began: first in Silago, Southern Leyte at 12 am; second in Borbon, Cebu at 5:10 am; third in Sagay City, Negros Occidental at 6:40 am; fourth in San Lorenzo, Guimaras at 11:10 am; fifth in Iloilo City at 1:20 pm; and sixth in Magsaysay, Cuyo Islands, Palawan at 7:30 pm.

On Wednesday, November 5, it made its seventh landfall in Batas Island, Taytay, Palawan at 4:10 am. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported the typhoon over the coastal waters of Linapacan, Palawan as of 4 am, moving west northwest at 15 km/h from a previous 25 km/h. It maintained maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h and gustiness up to 165 km/h before dawn, but is expected to re-intensify in the next 12 hours and reach peak intensity over the West Philippine Sea.

It will continue crossing the northern portion of Palawan Wednesday morning before emerging over the West Philippine Sea and eventually leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning, November 6. The typhoon caused massive flooding and left a trail of destruction, with more than 40 people reported dead in Cebu.

Portions of Mimaropa and Western Visayas remain under tropical cyclone wind signals as of 5 am Wednesday, including typhoon-force winds in the northernmost part of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Araceli) and Calamian Islands. PAGASA's rainfall outlook shows intense to torrential rain (above 200 mm) in Palawan, heavy to intense rain (100-200 mm) in Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro. There is a high risk of life-threatening storm surges exceeding 3 meters in these areas.

Additionally, PAGASA is monitoring a tropical depression outside the PAR, which could enter as Typhoon Uwan on Friday or Saturday and intensify into a super typhoon. Tino is the Philippines' 20th tropical cyclone for 2025.
