The UN Decolonization Committee approved by consensus a resolution renewing the call for bilateral dialogue between Argentina and the United Kingdom on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands.
The measure was adopted on June 25 and maintains the mandate for both countries to resume negotiations.
Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno denounced British militarization in the archipelago and rejected hydrocarbon exploration in the area.
The resolution seeks to promote bilateral dialogue without imposing specific conditions on the parties.
