Uppsala Municipality appoints two new district and rural councils

Uppsala Municipality has appointed two new district and rural councils to strengthen dialogue with residents. There are now fifteen such councils in the municipality.

The two new councils are Oxsätra Åkerlänna Utveckling AB and Gamla Uppsala Villa- och Trädgårdsförening. They were selected after applications in spring 2026 that met the municipality's criteria.

Erik Pelling, chair of the municipal board, stressed the value of local knowledge. He said the councils provide stronger dialogue with people who know their areas best.

Oxsätra Åkerlänna Utveckling AB runs Handlar'n i Oxsätra among other services, a service point since 2018. Chair Annika Gustafsson Lif looks forward to early involvement in development processes.

The councils act as dialogue partners to the municipality on local development issues. The municipality arranges network meetings for experience sharing.
