Scores of mourners gathered in Polokwane on Friday to pay their last respects to veteran actor Seputla Sebogodi. Member of Parliament Donald Selamolela described him as a celebrated entertainer and active citizen. The actor was laid to rest at Silicon Cemetery after a service at Jack Botes Hall.
Member of Parliament Donald Selamolela told mourners that Sebogodi had run his race and deserved a crown. He recalled learning of the actor’s death after speaking with his wife Rosina Semenya.
Sebogodi’s son Kgotatso Sebogodi remembered his father as a happy man who loved the arts. His stepdaughter read an emotional tribute from his wife that recalled their first meeting.
Actress Katlego Danke, who played his on-screen wife in Generations, also paid tribute. Colleagues gave Sebogodi a standing ovation at the service.
Sebogodi appeared in many South African productions including Scandal, The River and Gomora, as well as films such as The Woman King and Mr Bones.
