Victor Wembanyama scored 32 points and helped the San Antonio Spurs defeat the New York Knicks in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday. The win cut the Knicks' series lead to 2-1.
Wembanyama took 13 of his 18 shots inside the paint during the contest. His average shot distance dropped to 10.6 feet with an effective field goal percentage of 66.7 percent. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson used ball screens and back screens to create paths for Wembanyama to the rim. Several plays forced Knicks defenders out of position and left Wembanyama with clear lanes against smaller players. The Spurs are scheduled to play Game 4 on Wednesday night. A win would even the series at 2-2 and send it back to San Antonio for Game 5.
