Vingegaard wins Volta a Catalunya with superiority

Jonas Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike has won the Volta a Catalunya after a final stage in Barcelona won by Brady Gilmore. The Dane finished ahead of Lenny Martínez of Bahrain Victorious by 1:22 minutes and Florian Lipowitz of Red Bull Bora by 1:30. Vingegaard capitalized on the efforts of other teams to secure a clear victory.

Jonas Vingegaard showcased his superiority in the Volta a Catalunya, clinching the overall title with tactical acumen and strong legs. Red Bull Bora pushed hard for Remco Evenepoel, but the Belgian faltered in key stages and shifted to support Lipowitz, who took third place.

In the seventh and final stage on Montjuïc in Barcelona, Evenepoel launched early moves, but Vingegaard stayed glued to his wheel. Several riders attempted breaks without success, and stage honors went to Brady Gilmore of NSN ahead of Dorian Godon.

Team directors praised Vingegaard's race reading. Movistar's Chente García Acosta said: “Visma and Jonas took advantage of the peloton, of the teams that did the work for him”. UAE's Matxin added: “Red Bull Bora did the work for him”. Purito Rodríguez lauded: “He has been very superior to the rest”.

Vingegaard adds this win to his resume, including Tours of 2022 and 2023, Vuelta 2025, and other week-long races. He now rests before gearing up for the Giro d'Italia.
