The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team concluded the VMI Winter Relays with strong performances, including four new entries in the program's top ten lists. In Lexington, Virginia, the Washington and Lee Generals wrapped up their participation in the VMI Winter Relays, marking a successful outing for the women's track and field squad. On the final day, several athletes achieved notable results that bolstered the team's historical records.
Reese Brown secured third place in the mile with a personal-best time of 5:10.50, ranking ninth in program history. Amelia Weenig followed in ninth place at 5:20.09, also a personal best. In the 400m, Jesma Evans took seventh with a season-best 57.87 seconds, while Annabelle Sutliff clocked 59.72 seconds for fifth all-time and a personal best. Ana Hodneland rounded out the event with 1:01.29, ninth in program history and her personal best.
Brianna Breyault placed ninth in the 3,000m with a season-best 11:10.78. Mackenzie Morante jumped 10.57 meters (34 feet, 8.25 inches) for eighth in the triple jump, her season best. In the weight throw, Bailey Hedgemon earned third with 15.93 meters (52 feet, 3.25 inches), and Leah Smith took ninth at 12.72 meters (41 feet, 8.75 inches), seventh all-time.
Additional personal bests came from Sofia Petrucelli in the 800m (2:23.34) and Simmons Lee in the 200m (27.59 seconds), with Evans also posting a season best of 26.47 seconds in the 200m. These efforts updated the program's top ten lists in four events. The Generals next compete February 14-15 at the Joe LaRocco Invite and Virginia Tech Showdown.
