KwaZulu-Natal is preparing for another round of severe weather, following a Yellow Level 2 warning from the South African Weather Service. The alert covers the western and far northern parts of the province, effective from Saturday into Sunday, as stated in the warning published on 21 March 2026. Forecaster Sihle Dlamini explained that conditions could include heavy downpours, frequent lightning and strong winds, potentially causing localised damage to infrastructure and settlements, as well as flooding on vulnerable roads and bridges. He detailed the probabilities: “60% chance of showers and thundershowers across the province and then tomorrow (Sunday) we’re expecting a 60% still but it’s mainly just for the western part of the province. We have issued a warning that is valid for today into tomorrow and that is just covering the western part of the province. But for today that level two was only covering just the extreme northern part of the province.” Earlier, on 18 March 2026, a related update mentioned severe thunderstorms in multiple provinces including KwaZulu-Natal.
