The Yonkers City Council voted to rename a street corner after the late rapper DMX. The decision honors his contributions to New York hip-hop. The renaming will take place near where he grew up.
The Yonkers City Council voted without objection on May 27 to move forward with renaming the corner of School Street and Brooke Street as “Earl DMX Simmons Way.” The vote followed a public hearing that drew support from local residents. The location sits near the Calcagno Homes public housing complex where DMX was raised and close to a mural painted in his honor in 2021.
