The prosecutor of Agen announced on Friday that the body found Thursday near Puycasquier is indeed that of the 11-year-old schoolgirl who disappeared on May 29. The causes of death remain unknown for now.
The body was discovered Thursday afternoon in a silo on a disused agricultural site about fifteen kilometers from Fleurance. It was formally identified after an autopsy carried out Friday morning in Pontoise by the IRCGN. Additional examinations have been ordered. Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin apologized on behalf of the judicial institution. He described an “immense failure” and said he would propose sanctions if shortcomings were established in the handling of previous complaints against the main suspect, Jérôme B. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu requested the first conclusions of the administrative inquiry within 15 days. A silent march is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. in Fleurance in tribute to the victim.
