The Senate approved María Verónica Michelli's nomination as judge despite executive opposition. The government and PRO leaders exchanged accusations over ethics and transparency.
On Thursday the Senate approved María Verónica Michelli's nomination for the Tribunal Oral Federal N°3 of La Plata along with 73 other nominations. The government had tried unsuccessfully to withdraw the nomination. Vice President Victoria Villarruel warned about campaigns against those who think differently after the session. Patricia Bullrich abstained from the vote although she had previously expressed rejection of the executive maneuver. The government responded to María Eugenia Vidal's criticisms regarding Manuel Adorni's pending sworn declaration. It stated that one cannot be both police and thief at the same time and recalled complaints against PRO officials during Mauricio Macri's administration. Vidal replied by demanding the submission of Adorni's sworn declaration and posted an image of a skeleton on social media. PRO's Laura Alonso rejected the accusations as false and defended respect for dissent.
