Milli Vanilli member Fab Morvan has canceled his performance at the Freedom 250 concert series in Washington D.C. The move makes him the latest act to distance himself from the event amid controversy over its political associations.
Morvan announced the decision on Monday evening during an appearance on CNN. He stated that the event had become too controversial and that he was initially assured it would remain nonpartisan. This is not what I signed up for, Morvan told host Laura Coates. He added that he wanted to unite people through music but felt misled after several other performers withdrew. The concert series is scheduled to take place from June 25 through July 10 at the National Mall. Vanilla Ice has confirmed he will still perform and described himself as apolitical. President Trump criticized the departing artists and suggested replacing the event with a rally.
