Former presidents Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón joined a PAN event in Chihuahua on Saturday to support Governor Maru Campos. Lawmaker Kenia López Rabadán reported that the request for a political judgment against her was not ratified within the legal three-day period.
The gathering took place at the Centro de Convenciones y Exposiciones in the state capital. Ricardo Anaya, Marko Cortés and Margarita Zavala also attended. National PAN leader Jorge Romero Herrera praised the administrations of Fox and Calderón for their strategy against organized crime.
Felipe Calderón defended his decision to fight drug trafficking during his term. He stated that “the vile and slanderous attack of power” does not change that it was “the correct decision”. He criticized that Maru Campos faces investigations while others accused of criminal links receive protection.
Kenia López Rabadán announced that the political judgment request has no effect after not being ratified. She noted that “there no longer exists, in formal terms, a request for political judgment against Governor Maru Campos”. She attributed the withdrawal to public pressure.
