La journée mondiale des essais cliniques célébrée à Addis-Abeba

L'Éthiopie a célébré la Journée mondiale des essais cliniques le 20 mai. Cet événement annuel met en lumière les contributions de la recherche médicale à la santé humaine.

Addis-Abeba a marqué l'occasion en rappelant le premier essai médical organisé, mené par James Lind en 1747. Lind a démontré scientifiquement que les citrons et les oranges pouvaient traiter le scorbut chez les marins.

Les essais cliniques testent la sécurité et l'efficacité de nouveaux médicaments, vaccins et traitements. De nombreux médicaments modernes, des thérapies contre le cancer aux vaccins contre la COVID-19, sont issus de tels processus.
