A dormitory at St Joseph's Seminary School in Molo caught fire on Saturday night. All students were safely evacuated with no injuries reported. The blaze occurred three days after a deadly fire at Utumishi Girls' Academy in the same county.
The fire broke out at around 10pm on Saturday as students prepared to retire for the night. Footage shows flames engulfing the building while students and teachers watched from a distance. Emergency response teams from Nakuru County government were deployed to contain the blaze.
Property worth millions of shillings is feared destroyed with little of the students' belongings salvaged. Authorities have not established the cause of the fire and investigations are expected to begin.
The incident follows a fire at Utumishi Girls' Academy in Gilgil on Thursday May 28 that killed 16 students. Eight students were arrested in that case after CCTV footage showed them setting mattresses on fire.
