Ruto departs for Europe tour to boost trade

President William Ruto leaves Kenya today for official visits to Belgium and Norway plus a state visit to Finland. The tour aims to attract investment and expand market access for Kenyan exports.

State House spokesman Hussein Mohammed announced the trip on June 7. Ruto will meet King Philippe of Belgium and European leaders to advance the Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement. In Norway he is set to discuss renewable energy with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The final stop in Finland includes a state visit hosted by President Alexander Stubb and new agreements on education, technology and clean energy. The tour follows Ruto's recent two-day state visit to South Africa. There the two countries signed six bilateral agreements to increase trade. Meetings are also planned with the European Council President and the European Parliament President. Forums in Norway and Finland will focus on business opportunities in electric mobility, manufacturing and innovation.
